“My goal while teaching is to create an environment where my students feel comfortable to explore. I lead students to practice autonomy, to make their own choices and find new possibilities, while knowing they are in a safe space to do so. I ensure this environment is created by being honest about expectations, errors, and opportunities for growth, both within myself and from my students. By building relationships with my students and truly knowing who they are as learners, I can provide instruction best geared towards them individually, offering many avenues to explore the topics and concepts introduced to them. Each class brings something new, and keeping the form moldable is what allows for further investigation into what is taught. Research is another large part of what makes me who I am as an educator. I believe there is great importance in relevancy. I commit to educating myself before I educate others and to being a lifelong learner. I aim to teach with curiosity and deeply value collaboration, and know that this approach is what brings evolution, refinement, and quality to my method.”
